Join spouse Visa - Delay during Christmas time and average processing times

Post by shastry.ajay » Thu Jan 11, 2018 5:34 pm

Hi all,

I hold a critical skills visa valid from the 7th of December 2017. My wife applied for a join spouse visa on the 8th of December, 2017. I'd also like to state that we have received a rejection previously because we had applied for a tourist visa when I was on stamp 1G and I did not know that it was contrary to general policy to allow people on stamp 1G to sponsor others' visa. Now I have the following questions.

1. I have calculated the number of working days that have elapsed since the application reached the Embassy. It has been 20 days as of the 11th of January, 2017. (I have factored in the 25th and 26th of December and the 1st of January as holidays). Are there delays to be expected since it is festive season and there are 3 holidays?

2. Will the previous rejection play a part in this decision?

3. On my critical skills permit, the job title says - Graduate Developer. Will the word Graduate have any impact on the decision? (I know this might be a silly question but I am really anxious)

4. I see on the decisions page that application numbers far greater than our application number are being approved. For instance, our application number begins from 30000000, I see that application numbers beginning from 33XXXXXX are already being approved. (Yes, join spouse visas). Can anybody explain how the numbers work? Are the visa decisions made based on the intent to leave for Ireland? That is the only reason I can think of why for this question. Your thoughts please.

Thank you very much in advance.

Wait for atleast 1 more week - public sector employees are just back this week from long Holidays.

Previous rejection should not play any role in your case.

Graduate should not matter.

Application numbers are allocated as soon as you start your application. But you may submit your application late compared to some one else who started their application after you started but submitted before you did. Also, applications from different places reach Delhi at different days - Applications from Delhi will reach faster and then other metros and then other cities - due to pure logistics. Don't worry you should get an answer in next 1-2 weeks.

My wife applied for a Join Spouse visa and the application reached the embassy on the 20th Nov,2017 and we are still awaiting a decision to be made on our application. I am a critical skill employment permit holder too.

Hello,
I had applied for join family visa in Nov 1 st week and i still have not heard back. I have mailed the embassy couple of times but get a response that the application is under process. Tried calling vfs but they do not have visibility to the status of the application. Im confused what to do as its already past 9 weeks.
Has anyone who has applied in November heard back from the embassy recently?
Thanks in advance
Soumya
