Urgent: selling property in India, need some details

Post by preetham » Wed Jun 05, 2019 9:55 am

Hi All,

I need some help on selling my property in India, the property is on my name and I have recently got my Irish citizenship and I still have my Indian passport (not applied for OCI yet), to sell my property i'm not travelling but thinking to give power of attorney to my brother in law, can some one please let me know what documents we need to send and only power of attorney would be enough or anything else I need to do from my side?

Also, my BIL was saying if we are NRI or other country citizen we need to pay something around 21-23% to govt on sale price, is that correct?

Would be great if someone came across this situation and best way to sell

Many Thanks in advance
Regards
Preetham

on the taxation part it's probably best that you consult a CA based in India who can advise you on this. The TDS for NRIs for property sale is definitely higher than that for resident Indians .
